Retired!

I just thought I would post a few lines for those that followed this blog.  I retired earlier this year, but I am available for advice on crafting with the elderly.  I am still posting on www.craftingwithjack.blogspot.com.  I would be quite happy to answer any queries concerning activities and crafting with the elderly.  All comments are sent to me so feel free to ask away!  I shall answer by of further posts.

Strawberries and Cream paper piece card

For today's craft with my elderly group we are doing a strawberries and cream card.  I printed the various elements onto patterned paper and hopefully they will end up with a card like mine above.  If you would like to try this for yourself please "right click" and save the above drawing.  Personal use only.

Jubillee

Today we were getting ready for the Queen's Jubilee.  We made bunting to hang and rosettes to wear.  I made the basic rosette by concertina folding 3 inch strips, my craft group decorated the middle using images I had downloaded from the net, plus a few mulberry flowers.

Sweet bird

Wondering what to do for my next craft I came up with this.   I decided to do a bird on a perch in paper piecing,  Looking for inspiration I came across a template, the site "Scraps by Lori Kay Design" can be found here.

And this is what I finished up with.

Fair Maids of February

The start of another month means this year is already starting to whiz by!   Snowdrops are also called Fair Maids Of February, so this week our calendar picture was snowdrops.  Now this is a really easy paper piecing craft, you just need leaf shapes like thick grass stalks, the snowdrop heads, a flowerpot for the base or you can “set” them in earth using brown paper or brown pens.  If you bend one or two leaves at an angle it gives a touch of realism.  I outline my snowdrop heads to give them definition and add the stalks.
